General considerations not advice. How you act on them depends on your own circumstances.

Crypto is volatile

Crypto is volatile Render’s price can move sharply in both directions sometimes within a single trading session. It’s an asset class to approach with capital you’re prepared to see fluctuate in value. General information only not a prediction or recommendation.

Where it's held matters

Where it’s held matters Crypto bought on an exchange typically sits on the exchange’s balance sheet. Institutional custody holds your RENDER separately a structural difference worth understanding before you buy.

How custody works

Broker vs exchange

Broker vs exchange Buying Render through a broker works differently from a self-serve exchange order book. Understanding how the two differ helps you choose the path that fits how you want to buy.

Larger trades are different

Render

A plain-English look at what it is, how it works, and what it's used for, so you can understand the asset before you buy.

Render (RENDER) is the native token of the Render Network, a decentralised GPU compute platform that connects people who need high-performance rendering or AI compute with GPU owners who have spare capacity to sell. The network was founded by Jules Urbach through his company OTOY, with the token first introduced in 2017 as RNDR on Ethereum, ahead of the network’s full launch in 2019. In November 2023, the project migrated its token to Solana and rebranded it as RENDER.

How
Render
works

Render connects two groups of participants: creators who need GPU power for 3D rendering, video processing, or AI workloads, and node operators who run GPU hardware and want to monetise spare capacity. When a creator submits a rendering or compute job, the network routes it to available node operators, who complete the work and are paid in RENDER. Job pricing is based on OctaneBench, a standardised GPU performance benchmark tied to OTOY’s Octane rendering software. The migration to Solana in November 2023 was intended to reduce transaction costs and increase throughput for the frequent micro-payments involved in distributing rendering jobs across many node operators; RENDER is now an SPL token on Solana, with the original Ethereum-based RNDR token deprecated. In 2025, Render introduced the Render Compute Network (RCN), extending the platform beyond 3D rendering into broader AI workloads such as model training and inference — positioning Render within the growing category of decentralised physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) serving AI demand.

What
Render
is used for

RENDER is the payment currency for the Render Network — creators spend RENDER to pay for rendering and compute jobs, and those tokens are burned as part of the Burn-Mint Equilibrium mechanism. Node operators earn RENDER for contributing GPU capacity to the network. RENDER also carries governance rights through the Render Network Proposal process, allowing token holders to participate in decisions about emission rates and other network parameters. The Render Network has an advisory board that includes notable figures from entertainment and technology, including Ari Emanuel, J.J. Abrams, digital artist Beeple, and Brendan Eich (creator of JavaScript and co-founder of Brave). The network has processed tens of millions of rendering frames across thousands of active GPU nodes since launch.

Key characteristics

Decentralised GPU marketplace. Render connects creators needing rendering or AI compute with GPU node operators who have spare capacity, with pricing based on the OctaneBench performance standard.

Burn-Mint Equilibrium. RENDER spent on compute jobs is burned, while new RENDER is emitted to reward node operators directly linking token supply to network usage.

Migrated to Solana. Originally launched as RNDR on Ethereum in 2017, the token migrated to Solana as RENDER (an SPL token) in November 2023 for lower fees and higher throughput.

Expanding into AI compute. The 2025 Render Compute Network extends the platform from 3D rendering into AI model training and inference workloads.

Governed emissions. RENDER has a maximum supply of approximately 644.2 million, with the rate of new emissions governed annually through community RNP votes rather than a fixed schedule.

FAQ

Render

Where can I buy Render?
You can buy Render through Uptrade with the help of a dedicated broker. Rather than trading on a self-serve exchange, you work directly with a broker who guides the purchase from start to finish and settles your RENDER into institutional custody.
What’s the best way to buy Render?+
There’s no single right way it depends on how much you’re buying and how hands-on you want to be. Buying through a broker suits people who want guidance rather than a self-serve order book, larger purchases, or institutional custody. Compare broker and exchange to see what fits your situation.
How is my Render kept secure?+
Your Render is held in institutional custody secured by Fireblocks, using multi-party computation and hardware isolation and every transaction requires direct broker-led approval.
Can I buy a large amount of Render?+
Yes. Larger purchases are handled through OTC execution, which is designed to fill size without the slippage that a large order can cause on an exchange order book.
What’s the difference between RNDR and RENDER?+
RNDR was the original token, issued on Ethereum from 2017. In November 2023, the network migrated to Solana and the token was rebranded as RENDER. They represent the same project RENDER is the current, active token, while RNDR refers to the deprecated Ethereum version.
Do I need crypto experience to buy Render?+
No. Many Uptrade clients are buying crypto for the first time. Your broker walks you through every step, so there’s nothing you need to know in advance.
Is Uptrade regulated?+
Uptrade is registered with AUSTRAC as a Digital Currency Exchange Provider (DCE100856266-001) and operates in compliance with its regulatory obligations.
