What is OTC trading?

Large trades, executed off the public order book.

Over-the-counter (OTC) crypto trading is the buying or selling of digital assets away from apublic exchange order book, through a broker who sources liquidity on your behalf. Rather thanfilling against one exchange's book, your trade is routed to wherever the best price is available without the position appearing on a live order book.

OTC suits clients placing larger trades, where executing directly on one exchange would eithermove the market against them or attract unwanted visibility. Instead of resting on a single orderbook, UpTrade's smart routing engine checks pricing across 40+ exchanges in real time andexecutes at the best available price.

OTC and exchange trading are different tools for different jobs.

Differentiators

Why route a large trade through a broker.

Five things UpTrade does that a single exchange order book does not.

01

Smart auto-routingYour trade is priced and executed against live liquidity across 40+ exchanges simultaneously, not a single order book. The system finds the best available price in real time, rather thanresting your order on one venue where it can move the market against you.

02

Off-order-book executionLarge trades placed on a single public exchange move the price against you. Routed OTC trades draw on liquidity across venues and don't sit exposed on one live book.

03

Discretion as standardYour trade, your size and your identity stay between you, your broker and the counterparties. Nothing is published.

04

Custody handled, not assumedSettlement plans for where assets land, in which wallet, under whose control. Custody is part of the conversation, not an afterthought.

05

One named brokerThe same person from the first call through to settlement. They know your portfolio, your treasury structure and the way you trade.

Who this is for

OTC is a fit when the structure behind the trade matters as much as the trade itself.

Process

From first call to settled trade.

Every OTC trade follows the same four steps, with your broker guiding you through each one.

01

Consultation

Discuss size, asset, settlement currency, custody and timing with your broker, or set it up yourself via the portal. No commitment required.

02

Execution

You or your broker triggers the trade. Our smart routing sources the best price across 40+ exchanges in real time.

03

Confirmation

Your broker confirms the trade against agreed terms. You'll receive written confirmation covering size, price, asset and settlement details.

04

Settlement

Assets settle into your agreed wallet structure, typically Fireblocks custody, or a self-custody address of your choice.

FAQ

Common questions about OTC.

What is the minimum trade size?

The minimum trade size for OTC execution is $1,500 USD. If you have a specific trade in mind,
contact our team and we can advise on the most suitable approach.

How does pricing work on an OTC trade?

Each trade is priced at the point of execution. Your broker triggers the trade and our smart
routing system checks pricing across 40+ exchanges in real time, executing at the best
available price. You receive a full breakdown of price and terms on your trade confirmation.

How fast can a trade settle?

Most OTC trades settle the same business day once the trade is executed and funds and assets are in position. Larger or more complex settlements including those routed through
trustee or corporate custody structures may take longer to coordinate.

Which assets can I trade through Uptrade OTC?

UpTrade brokers across 500+ digital assets. Bitcoin, Ethereum and the major liquid assets
settle most easily; less liquid assets may take longer to source and execute. Your broker
confirms availability and timing before any trade.

How is confidentiality handled?

OTC trades are executed privately between you, your broker and the underlying liquidity
venues. The trade does not appear on any single public order book. Client identity, trade size
and terms are not shared externally.

Is Uptrade regulated?

UpTrade is registered with AUSTRAC as a Digital Currency Exchange Provider
(DCE100856266-001) and operates in compliance with its regulatory obligations. Client assets
are custodied via Fireblocks.
